The Homework Policy
I assign homework Monday through Thursday, and rarely on Fridays. Usually the homework consists of independent reading for 20 minutes, a math practice sheet, and occasional Word Study practice. Additionally, there may be practice word focusing on a reading strategy (theme, character analysis, main idea, etc.) and Social Studies/Science practice. I usually give the class a chance to start their homework at the end of the day, so finishing the work are the only assignments. In addition, please sign your students' assignment notebook, as well as write any comments to me you would like me to see. If any student does not have their required homework for that day, they will stay in for recess to finish it (as well as receive a pink slip that must be signed by the parent).
